Producing renewable power with solar energy has many benefits, but it is not without its challenges. In this Vox video, the hindrances to the proliferation of renewable energy are explained.

Most of solar energy production occurs during the day, but the greatest demand for energy is at night. This creates an electricity demand curve, known as the “Duck Curve”, that is troubling for managers of electrical grids. The large ramp up in demand from day to night as more people use solar can be damaging to electrical distribution systems. Additionally, there needs to be a way to store solar energy during the day, and release it at night, when it is needed most. Check out this video which explains the challenges facing the renewable energy industry!
