ENMAX announced a new pilot program aimed at getting more electric vehicles (EVs) on the streets of Calgary at the Telus Spark Science Centre last weekend.
The pilot program is designed to make electric vehicle charging stations more affordable for Calgary homeowners and businesses. ENMAX will subsidize approximately 75% of cost EV charging stations costs, up to a maximum of $1500.00 dollars, to eligible participants.
Research has shown that EVs have increased by 60% over the past three years in Calgary and that the city can expect to see a tenfold increase in EVs in the next five years (ENMAX, 2019).
With the new program now in effect, ENMAX plans to use data collected from the study to better understand how EVs will impact Calgary well into the future (Donley, 2019).
