Edmonton is increasing its solar rebates

Thinking about installing solar panels for your residential home in Edmonton? Now is the time.

The City of Edmonton is increasing its solar residential rebate incentive from $0.15/W to $0.40/W – that’s roughly 15% off in savings! In addition to turning your home into a tiny self-generating power plant in one of the sunniest cities in Canada, you also help contribute in reducing your overall impact on the environment.

Participating in the rebate program is easy. Simply work with a qualified solar provider to take care of all the paperwork and installations for you. You can do so by following these simple steps:

  1. Find an approved and qualified solar provider listed on the Solar Providers Directory at Solar Energy Society of Alberta (SESA). For more information on navigating through various solar options, check out SESA’s Solar Consumer Guide.
  2. Contact your local solar installer. General information required by your installer include a copy of your most recent energy bill and pictures of your electrical panels. From there, your installer will be able to provide you with a price and design estimate of your solar system, and answer any questions you may have.
  3. Once you are ready to move forward, your installer should make the process as easy as possible by taking care of all the installations, approvals, permits, and rebate applications while keeping you updated throughout the whole process.
